Hei, am looking for individuals/organisations potentially dedicated to the cause of Free Software and Open Source, in -

1. Joining this effort, by providing assistance, ideas ....

Currently, the Team consists of 5 members, that is -

Member of the FLUGhttp://www.flug.fi/ and EFFIhttp://www.effi.org/ and a self-styled 'Free Software' activist, who aims at joining hands with other individuals/organisations interested in staging the event, and 'striving' to coordinate their efforts to produce the desired 'results'. Personally, am fully willing and confident to accept the responsibility to organise the event, however common knowledge tells me that a team would be able to achieve far better results.

Members of the Association Surya ry., http://www.surya.tv/index.html -

Who will be mainly responsible for organising the musical part of the event. This includes availing of the 'possible aid benefits' granted by the Ministry of Education for events of this nature/importance.

2. Helping in the maintainence of these pages, charting out our maps, schedules and deadlines.

3. Organizing 'brainstorming' sessions(after ReadingTFM - "Start Guide" http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=63 on what MORE/ELSE can be done),

4. As of now, the date for the occasion is fixed for the 16th of September 2006 around the world(there are more than 200 SFD-teams in 70 countries at the moment - Finland lacked one !).

Yes, am fully well aware of Linux Aktivaattori's plans to organize a similar event, and personally have nothing against the event being held on the 17th. However, the board of Software Freedom International voted to establish the third Saturday of each September - for the simple reason that it would be 'more feasible' to stage the event on a Saturday !

Further, I have heard rumours about TKO-äly's plans to stage a similar event - would be nice if they could publicise more information about this. Am looking forward to joining hands with the above teams - our efforts would definitely be more fruitful together !

5. Maintaining Press and Public relations (very important),

6. Inviting Sponsors,

7. Invitations - to Her Honour, Mrs. Tarja Halonen, Esq. - The Right President of Finland http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarja_Halonen, the Field Marshal(Linus Torvalds http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus_Torvalds himself), Mr.Richard Stallman Esq.,http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Stallman - the bearded GNU and founder of the FSF, AND last but not the least important - the sympathetic, compassionate and generous Mr.William Henry Gates, KBE, Esq., http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates- Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect (our most valuable and fair, yet fierce competitor at the moment, honestly !).

8. Presently under consideration is to organize -

a) An exhibition during the day, which will highlight - The "meek" beginnings of GNU and Linux and its (GNU/Linux) rather explosive rise to the top in recent years - HUT could possibly contribute towards this.

Contributors to different 'Target Groups' - Corporate, Small & medium scale business, schools, home users, with their offerings/solutions.

b) A real 'HEVI' jam session (in association with Surya Ry http://www.surya.tv/Esittely.htm ) i.e inviting a few good 'kotimainen' Rock Groups to perform on the occasion - e.g Flaming Sideburns http://www.theflamingsideburns.com/, King Starhttp://Kingstarband.com from Espoo - who have just returned from a kansanvälinen keikka http://www.kingstarband.com/news.html ). Of course negotiations are on to rope in some top-notch talent and personalities, and god-willing if all goes well.....

The money generated therein would initially be used to promote more such related events, with the sole aim of "Educating" the people about the benefits of using/providing Free Software and Open Sourced software.

Anyone capable of composing an appropriate 'theme song' for the evening is warmly tervetullut, please note the composer is also directed to RTFM http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=63 on what is NOT allowed.

So all my #komentorivi buddies, if you are interested in stretching your arms and legs, straightening your selkä, and getting your 'verta liikumaan' - lets get down to work and make this event a 'Grande Success'!

Let's show the world that - Whatever we do, we do it 'EXTREMELY WELL' !

Alf 't1nt1n' Tims.

Huom:

WE need people with the 'Hämäläis' http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hämäläiset mentaliteetti - DEEDS not words !!!
