SFD 2007 Celebrations on 14/09/2007
KLUG is the linux user group of Kongu Engineering College. KLUG celebrated its first ever SFD successfully.
The idea of the event was to create an awareness among the students about free software and its importance. We started with a small talk on introduction to FOSS by Mr.Prashanth (munichlinux), our alumni. He also showed the installation of Ubuntu 7.04 and how to add or remove softwares from it. Then we had a technical quiz involving FOSS and we had five teams from the open source world as Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE and Knoppix. And the teams that took honor was Fedora with first place, openSUSE in second and Knoppix securing third place.
Then we distributed the Ubuntu 7.04 cd's and The OpenCD's to the students about 50 in number. And thus ended the celebrations of the SFD 2007. Hope to celebrate the SFD 2008 in a grandiose manner.
