I know we registered late but still we will continue in celebrating SFD here in our locality. I personally believe that there is a great need to raise awareness on the principles and virtues of using high-quality free and open source software, especially in developing countries like here in the Philippines. Well, basically, these are the following events that we had planned out for the 19th. These are simultaneous events that will happen during SFD here in our school.
1.FOSS Lecture Series with the following topics:
- FOSS History and Direction
- The 4 Freedoms and FOSS advocacy issues
- Linux Distributions
- Linux for Non-Geeks
- Open Source Tools for Engineers and Scientists
- Dynebolic: An Open Source Multimedia Solutions
- Open Source Teaching Tools
- Open Source Office Productivity Tools
- Open Source RAD Tools
- Gaming on Linux using WINE
2. Rubiks Cube Competition using open source software Omega Studio Timer
3. Gaming Competitions using FOSS games
Quake III:Capture the Flag Competition
- Frets on Fire Competition
4. Linux InstallFest with the tagline "Bring your PC and we will install Linux."
5. IGP Film Showing with movies and documentaries about FOSS and FOSS advocacy.
That pretty much sums up all our major activities. Hope we will get to implement them all. And despite our limited resources of funds being that we are just a small society of FOSS advocates, I sure hope everything will turn out as planned. Thank you and God Bless us all..
