This Team is created to be the leader of SFD Surabaya.

As far as we know, there will be many Community over there, included NGO Community, Campuses (Academics) and Local Goverments.

Will be held between 30 August - 12 September 2009.

As far as we know, there is still many preparation to be completed before going to the event.

Surabaya, 8 - 20 September 2008 KLAS (Kelompok Linux Arek Suroboyo)

In order to celebrate our 3rd times joining the SFD Annual and worldwide commemoration of Free and Open Source Software, we from Surabaya make some great agenda for this celebration:

- Open Source Workshop, every day from Monday to Saturday, start from 13.00 until ends, with various topics such as : Introduction, Basic Networking, Remastering, etc

- Computer Expo Help Desk about Linux Distro at Hi-Tech Mall Surabaya, we serve 10 PC with various linux distro so audience can try and eventually installed in their own PC or laptops.

- Distributing +/- 1200 Open Source CD from various linux distro start 8 - 20 September 2008

- On 20 September 2008 we make celebration at Intiland Towers Surabaya, with 100 members of KLAS community.

Celebratring Software Freedom Day 2007 All Around Indonesia

SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY 2007 INDONESIA bringing software freedom to a library near you

Jakarta, 21 - 22 September 2007 Perpustakaan Pendidikan Nasional, Senayan Jakarta

Introduction

SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY (SFD) is annual and worldwide commemoration of free and open source software. SFD is celebration for supporting movement of public education effort and it is not only about noticing the advantages of free and open source software but the driven for its application and benefits by communities. First SFD was on 28th August 2004 which has enlisted 70 teams. After this festival is well-known publicly then second SFD was held on 10th September 2005 that has signed up by 300 teams from 60 countries all over the world. Main sponsor SFD 2005 – 2006 is Canonical Ltd, a commercial company that has supported Ubuntu project. Since 2006 SFD has decided will be annually celebrated on third Saturday in September. This year SFD is on 15th September 2007. Tribute for SFD 2007 in Indonesia was held by Komunitas Athenaeum Light Indonesia (KALI) (http://kali.openlib.info/) on 21st – 22nd September 2007 with theme:

The theme is raised intentionally because of assumption for implementing library automation is difficult and expensive especially for school, public library and community centers. Therefore, SFD 2007 is aiming to introduce free/open-source software products for library management information system in schools, public libraries or community centers to software developer, common people, academician, practitioner and the official of schools, public libraries or community centers hence public awareness to develop and use Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS to solve problems in establishing simply, economically and sustainable.

Objective

The objective of Software Freedom Day 2007, that is held with theme Bringing Software Freedom to a library near you, educate public regarding to benefits of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) application in management information system for library or commonly known as LA (Library Automation).

Target

The target of Software Freedom Day (SFD) is aiming to library software developers, librarian, academicians in library; the community center and library officials and common people.
