Edo College is a model secondary school in Benin City, Nigeria which is only just about to discover the joys of software freedom. Alumni who are FOSS proponents and members of the Nigeria Linux Users Group want to use the celebrations to educate their alma mater about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education. The celebrations will also be used to establish a sound footing for the growth of FOSS by providing an environment in which the young minds can be nourished.
We plan to have a splendid time listening to talks and presentations about software freedom and its relevance in Education especially in our African context. Other outcomes of the day will include;
Distribution of Ubuntu Linux CD's
and other educational free software including those for use on Windows systems An install-fest using Edubuntu Linux. These will be installed on all the PC's in the Computer Lab and any that participants in the event bring with them.
