Planning for Software Freedom Day 2010 - Saturday 18th September

Planning is now underway for the 2010 event in Melbourne. If you have ideas or suggestions for how we can make this event bigger, brighter and better, please get in touch via @sfd_melb on Twitter or #sfdmelb on IRC via freenode, or via Linux Users' Victoria - http://www.luv.asn.au

Thank you to everyone for the 2009 event

A very BIG thank you to everybody who participated in Melbourne's part of this global event in 2009. We had an outstanding day meeting new people and introducing FREE software for all operating systems, Linux, Windows and MAC OS. We answered loads of questions ranging from "does Linux..." tech savvy to very basic 'how do I...", and got an amazing response from Chadstone Shoppers

Got a disc and want to know more??? Come along to our next LUV workshop - the Linux Users of Victoria meet on the third Saturday of every month ... so that's October 17 ... at the Hub in Docklands 17 Waterview Walk. Just like the software, it's a FREE non-discriminatory, very welcoming event for people of all ages. Just look for the big rabbit... and just like Neo, follow it.....

Software Freedom Day 2009: Chadstone Shopping Centre

Chadstone Shopping Centre - Melbourne, Australia

Software Freedom Day 2009 in Melbourne - Saturday 19th September!

Software Freedom Day is a global, grassroots effort to tell people about the virtues and availability of Free and Open Source Software.Melbourne's various Free and Open Source Software groups join the global celebration for Software Freedom Day with a series of Free Talks on various aspects of the technology and communities that support it. Melbourne's celebration is proudly supported by the Victorian Government.

We've put together a great program of talks and workshops at the Melbourne PC User Group premises, located in Chadstone Shopping Centre, the largest shopping complex in the Southern Hemisphere. There's a large theatre there for talks about the world of Software Freedom, and a small computer lab where we will run workshops and free and open source software demos.
