Christchurch A-NZ
Kia ora / Welcome to SFD Team O-Tautahi / Christchurch, Aotearoa - New Zealand.
2006 event @ South Learning Centre - details + *Gallery pix*
SFD Christchurch were the first team in Aotearoa, up and running with SFD's inception. It's great to have numerous teams across the country onboard SFD now too, to work alongside. Greetings are extended to Te Tai Tonga - the South and Otakou - skilled hosts in January of linux.conf.au. Ka mate, ka mate, ka ora, ka ora ..kia kaha ki to tatau mahi SFD.
Christchurch is blessed with a range of BSD/GNU/Linux/OSS users and groups from which to draw energy. Thus we announce that Software Freedom Day is again being celebrated here in 2006. Our SFD3 is at a new venue - an IT-enabled and popular public library. We have webcams to play with. So we are spreading our SFD over two days, to connect with other online teams as part of our SFD workshop. We are also offering an Installfest. More team members are most welcome to join the fun!

SFD Chch Advertising Campaigns
#4 Sep06 MediaReleases - newspapers, radio, tv (no known result)
#3 Sep06 newspapers - paid & community advertisements
#2 Aug06 notices - city, Uni, Beckenham, etc: Poster & Flyer
#1 July06 - help us get a national FOSS community message board: on Trademe trader central
..Other NZ teams have so far failed to recognise what a rare and valuable thing free nationwide advertising is - and who 'average computer users' are - in not supporting this FOSS Community SFD chat area. We asked LUG & NZOSS-Chat subscribers for assistance, but got none. The only reply maligned Trademe users and derided this promotion initiative. -- What the ???? --

03Sept06 Update
Hi all. Now we've mastered the lab tek (see Pix), it's time for some serious plans..
We have two rooms - one a lab of 31x 512MB P4-2.66GHz PCs plus projector, and the other a clear wireless-networked space. In the latter we'll screen Revolution OS: Two-disk Extended Version and Picture Wall, do secondary talks and G/LUG member demos, and install newcomer machines. In the lab we'll use what's on offer for a high-tek hookup with SFD, as a two-day / eight-hour Ubuntu webcam setup & tuition workshop.
We'll advertise on this theme: Secure Computing - what does it look like?
FOSS & virus/malware-free security underpins what will be a maximised, international social event - of great appeal to families and teachers. We'll encourage each participant to create a login ID for themselves on this SFD wiki, and upload their pix to show their friends
