Berkeley
From SFD
While not exactly a typical Software Freedom Day team, boalt.org is a student organization that operates at the UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and that seeks to promote the public interest in technology law. We distributed our first free software CD in Spring 2004.
In honor of Software Freedom Day and in order to kick off our newly-begun semester right, we will be distributing the boalt.org Free Software CD 2.0 on Friday, August 27 from 11am-3pm in the Darling Courtyard just outside of Boalt Hall. (Sorry, no one is there on Saturday.)
You can learn more about the new free software CD (or our prior one) at http://freecd.boalt.org
We have already burned about 150 such CDs and expect to have around 250-300 by Friday morning. Given our target audience of law students, faculty, and staff, we put together a free software CD that consists of Mac OS X and Windows software. Of course, if anyone shows up with questions about GNU/Linux, we'll be glad to work on getting them a distro of their choice to try out too.
Best wishes to the others celebrating Software Freedom Day!
Brian
While I am a little late to the party (sorry), just thought your readers would like to know that as well the Windows version of OpenOffice.org 1.1.2, there is a Mac OS X version. The Mac OS X version of OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 probably isn't on the CD (maybe not enough room), but it can be downloaded from one of the OpenOffice.org mirrors, or obtained on CD from one of the OpenOffice.org CD distributors (probably for a small fee).
And more Mac OS X developers are welcomed.
Visit OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X (http://porting.openoffice.org/mac) for more details.
