ODF Olympiad is a competition for school children from 7-17 years of age.

This is an initiative driven by Sun Microsystems Malaysia, originated from Sun Microsystems, New Delhi. In Malaysia, this is supported by Ministry of Education, OSCC, Mampu, Malaysia National Computer Community (MNCC) and other companies like RedHat, pending confirmation from Google & IBM.

We will be having the ODF Olympiad starting September 2008, with the winning submissions getting the awards in November, 2008. There are host of Open source conferences happening in November and so we are targetting that the ODF Olympiad in each country gets over by October so that the national level awards can be given in November (eg. theMYGSSCON in KL, Malaysia in November 5 & 6, 2008).

Due to limited time, Ministry of Education would like us to focus the competition in the State of Terengganu only, with a total of 500 schools. These schools will be given 2 Open Office cd. As for creating awareness, we will be printing posters for the schools.
