SFD 2006 Team Reports

Looking at previous SFD reports is a good way to consider what worked and what didn't and start to make plans for the next Software Freedom Day!. We want to know what works and what doesn't work, and how we can all improve.

There are some obvious things SFI intends to change; we need to smooth out the registrations and supplies shipping process. But we need to hear your great ideas in order to make SFD 2007 the biggest, best SFD ever!

Please go to our feedback form at your earliest convenience and take a couple minutes to let us know about your SFD 2006 experience.

Once you've done that maybe you'd like to see how SFD went for your fellow teams at the TeamReports page.

SFD Logo Font

It's just become apparent that the logo files i've previously uploaded to sunsite have gone missing, new copies of the SVG logo and TTF file for the font used have been attached to the Logo page. I'm sorry this is so late, the problem has only just been brought to my attention. Update: If you want to localise any of the provided, or indeed your own, artwork with a flag then you may be interested in the collection of Public Domain SVG flag graphics available on the sodipodi server Update2: Artwork/Misc contains a high res TOCD logo

Mailing List Reminder

A quick reminder to any of you that might not have had a chance to join the mailing lists yet, MailingLists gives a summary of the available lists and their roles. It's recommended that you join the Team Contacts and Planning mailing lists to stay in touch with other teams and receive announcements from the SFD team.

Supplies

Pia Waugh, the [new!] president of SFI, has just put in the order for the SFD '06 t-shirts. 136 of your teams are registered to receive SFD supplies for your celebrations in 2006; this is up from 90 in 2005.

This year, we're sending each team TWO FREE SHIRTS, and additional shirts can be purchased for AUD$20 at the Software Freedom Day store: http://tinyurl.com/h3kgl

AUD$20 is currently approximately 11.93 Euros or USD$15.50, and this price includes global shipping from Australia...and Paypal fees that we incur :(.

All proceeds will be used for purchasing and shipping the free shirts and other SFD supplies for SFD teams around the world. A discounted price is available to teams in developing nations; email info@softwarefreedomday.org for further information.

The orders for CDs and balloons will be submitted this week, so we're getting closer to pushing these supplies out to all of you!

Software Freedom Day 2005 in Chennai, India

Registered teams for 2006 are listed on the registration page - take a look now to see if you're officially on the list, or where your closest team is. Don't forget to add your team to the 2006 map!

Teams that registered before the deadline of Wednesday July 19 will be receiving Ubuntu Linux CDs, T-shirts and balloons in their sponsorship goodie bags. You can still register a team (although we may not be able to ship you a goodie bag) - the steps to get a team going are:

  1. Check that there isn't already a nearby team that you'd like to join.

  2. Sign up for the SFD-announce mailing list.

  3. Email us to get yourself onto the official team list.

  4. Create a team page on this wiki to help prepare - you will need to sign up or log in to be able to edit pages.

  5. Have fun taking free software to the streets using some of these ideas!

You must re-register even if you've registered in 2004 or 2005.
